R.I.P. U.S.A.

Well the people of the U.S.A. have just done the dumbest thing they could possibly have done. This would have been okay had it only upset their nation.
Unfortunately, it is not that simple. What they have just done will have dire consequences for a great many other nations, including us in New Zealand. Unfortunately we are all going to suffer for the stupidity of many millions of American voters.
I find myself asking what on earth were they thinking. Then I realise they probably weren't thinking at all. Clearly the average IQ has plumeted in the U.S.A. I mean, Trump dropped so many clues as to where he was coming from and it is incredible that they could not see what is going to happen. Here we have a man who is so obsessed with himself and will do ANYTHING to be in power and thinks he can (and probably will) pardon himself from all of those convictions he has currently got plus all the others yet to come.
The only thing that prevents him being described as a dictator is the fact that he made no bones about the fact that he will do exactly what he wants whenever he wants to and yet millions of voters still voted for him.
He is unreliable and has not even a passing acquaintence with the truth. He is a misogynist, a racist, and a full-blown narcissist. He speaks without a moment's thought and when in the company of dictators such as Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin, is likely to say something incredibly tactless and start a world war. Let's not forget; this cretin has access to the Nuclear Football! And as if that isn't enough he has already shown that he is prepared to fire any judge whose ruling he dislikes and to ignore any legislation that won't let him do what he likes.
There is no doubt about it; he is a seriously dangerous person with serious mental health issues and as such he should not be trusted with running a bath, never mind running what is arguably the most powerful nation in the world.
It couldn't have happened at a worse time for us in New Zealand because we are half-way through a dire period in our history where we are being "governed" by a chaotic coalition headed up by a clueless idiot. He thinks he can run the show like a business where the bottom line is all that matters and to hell with any social or welfare issues which are the biggest difference between running a commercial business and running a country.
Accordingly they have wasted a huge amount of our taxes on those who already have more than enough to cover their needs, such as landlords with multiple properties. That was money that could have done a lot to repair our shambolic health system, where far too many people are being denied the services they need simply because it is woefully underfunded and understaffed and the Private Health system is far too expensive for the average citizen to avail themselves of its services.
For example, I wonder how many people are aware of the fact that there are no dermatologists available for people in the Whanganui or Manawatu areas unless they can afford to pay hundreds (and in some cases, thousands) of dollars to get an appointment with a private practitioner. I wonder how many of those people will either die from their conditions or suffer unnecessarily due to their inability to access the care they need.
But if we were being governed by a government that actually gave a fuck about such things, they would be able to get something positive out of the mess that American voters have just made of their country this week.
The only answer for all of us is to have as little to do with Trump as possible and try to make a silk purse out of this hideous sow's ear.
The first thing we could be doing now would be to open our borders to American doctors and nurses and for that matter, any other professionals that we are short of. You can bet there will be heaps of them who will be looking for an escape route before the Orange haired narcissistdecids to close the borders to such people who want to leave.
Health care is something the Government needs to spend money on. It is not a "nice to have" kind of thing it is a MUST HAVE thing and the Governmment haven't time to wait until we can "find the money" or train up enough carers of our own. We need to act now befor other countries open their doors to all of those political refugees who will be seeking a new home following this election.
